Heavy bass-driven riffs, lyrical hooks, and driving drums combine in the knife-edge balancing act that is Cassette Stress. Bassist and vocalist Hiatt and drummer Liz build a wall of sound that you’d swear came from more than two people. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, the band draws from post-punk, industrial, darkwave, and alternative rock to craft songs about loss, regret, and mortality.

Following an intense show schedule in and around Nashville honing their performance skills, Cassette Stress got on the road in 2025, playing in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and South. The band started with a minimalist approach to instrumentation, using only bass and drums, but felt they could push their sound further. The band started exploring the possibilities of adding electronics and synths, and are now working on new songs that entwine their bass-and-drums impact with a wider sonic palette from electronics. With this exciting new direction, Liz and Hiatt are gearing up to explore new territories in both touring and sound in 2026 and beyond.
